Karat labels express gold content in twenty-four parts, while fineness marks use parts per thousand. Labels describe represented composition; they are not an instruction to change the weight you actually own.

For valuation, keep the item’s weight, stated purity, selected price basis, and valuation date visible as separate facts.

A stamp can be useful evidence, but wear, repairs, mixed parts, plating, and inaccurate marks can complicate interpretation. Professional testing may be appropriate for valuable or uncertain items.

Do not treat stones, clasps, or non-gold materials as verified gold merely because the whole item was weighed together.

Purity can affect valuation, but this site does not silently convert jewellery weight into pure-gold weight. Enter a price that corresponds to the selected purity in the applicable calculator.
