Bullion coin
A coin generally valued substantially by metal content, while denomination, issuer, condition, and premiums can also matter.
Bar
A cast or minted metal form identified by its stated weight, purity, producer, and marks.
Numismatic value
Value attributed to rarity, condition, provenance, or collector demand beyond represented metal content.

What to compare

Record stated weight, purity, producer or issuer, serial or identifying marks, documentation, condition, and custody. Product recognition does not remove the need for verification.
