Converts a silver weight into a monetary value at the per-gram price you supply, handling grams, kilograms, troy ounces, and tola.

When to use it

  • You hold silver by weight and have sourced a per-gram price.
  • You need a value to carry into a Zakat calculation or an inventory record.
  • You are comparing a holding against a silver-based Nisab threshold.

How the figure is produced

  1. The weight is converted to grams using the fixed factor for the unit you selected.
  2. The gram figure is multiplied by the per-gram price you entered.
  3. The converted weight is displayed alongside the value so each step can be checked.

Someone values 2 kilograms of silver at a sourced price of 0.90 per gram.

Silver is often quoted per troy ounce rather than per gram. Divide a per-ounce quote by 31.1034768 before entering it here.

Assumptions built in

  • The weight you enter is the metal content, not the gross weight of an item containing other materials.
  • The per-gram price you enter already corresponds to the purity or fineness you hold.
  • Unit conversion uses fixed factors: 1 kilogram = 1,000 g, 1 troy ounce = 31.1034768 g, 1 tola = 11.6638038 g.

Limitations

  • No price is fetched, cached, or supplied for you. The figure used is the one you type, so the result is only as current as the price you sourced and the moment you sourced it.
  • A spot or reference price is not a price you can transact at. Dealers apply a spread, and jewellery normally carries making charges on top.
  • This is a valuation, not a Zakat calculation — no threshold is applied and no rate is charged.
