Currency Converter

Convert an amount using an exchange rate and direction explicitly entered or selected by you.

No live exchange rate or market data is retrieved. The result depends entirely on your entered rate.
Conversion inputs
USD to AED and target-per-source are visible defaults; no rate is supplied automatically.
USD

Enter a value greater than zero. It is not fetched or updated automatically.

Current interpretation: 1 USD = entered rate AED.

How the conversion works

Target-per-source mode multiplies the source amount by the entered rate. Source-per-target mode divides by the entered rate. The direction is always visible and no intermediate value is rounded.

Assumptions

The entered rate is treated as a fixed illustrative assumption for this one calculation. Changing a currency does not alter or replace that rate.

What is excluded

  • Bank, card, transfer, remittance, and provider fees.
  • Bid/ask spreads, commissions, rounding policies, and transaction limits.
  • Historical charts, rate alerts, trading signals, and provider comparisons.
  • Crypto conversion, market pricing, and tax treatment.

Worked example

At an illustrative user-entered rate of 1 USD = 3.6725 AED, `$1,000` converts to AED 3,672.50. This does not claim that the rate is current.

Educational disclaimer

What this tool does

Multiplies an amount by an exchange rate that you enter yourself, in the direction you select, so foreign balances can be restated in one consistent currency before a Zakat or financial calculation.

When to use it

  • You hold balances in more than one currency and need everything in a single currency before entering values into a Zakat calculator.
  • You have already sourced today's exchange rate from your bank or another source you trust and want the multiplication done transparently.
  • You want to document the exact rate, direction, and result used in a calculation you may need to review later.

How the figure is produced

  1. With '1 source = rate target' selected, converted amount = amount × entered rate.
  2. With '1 target = rate source' selected, the entered rate is inverted first: converted amount = amount × (1 ÷ entered rate).
  3. That is the entire computation — no fees, spreads, rounding rules, or historical rates are modelled.

Worked example

Converting 2,500 USD to AED with an entered rate of 3.6725 in the '1 USD = 3.6725 AED' direction.

Entered amount
2,500 USD
Entered rate
3.6725 AED per USD
Converted amount
9,181.25 AED

Reversing the direction with the same rate would instead divide: 2,500 ÷ 3.6725 ≈ 680.74 — selecting the wrong direction is the most common mistake this tool surfaces.

Assumptions built in

  • The rate you enter is one you sourced and verified yourself, with its own date and time.
  • No exchange rate is fetched, cached, or supplied for you. The figure used is the one you type, so the result is only as current as the rate you sourced and the moment you sourced it.
  • The currency labels describe your inputs; they do not validate that the rate actually belongs to that currency pair.

Limitations

  • A real transfer usually settles at a different effective rate once fees and spreads apply; this tool shows the arithmetic of the quoted rate only.
  • For Zakat preparation, record the rate source and timestamp alongside the result — the methodology and preparation guide both call for one consistent, documented conversion.
  • The output is arithmetic, not a ruling. Whether an asset is Zakatable at all, and which threshold applies to you, are questions this tool does not answer.

How this differs from the related tools

  • Gold Value Calculator

The converter restates money between currencies; the gold value tool prices a metal weight from a per-gram price. Converting a gold price is a currency question, valuing the gold itself is not.

  • Main Zakat Calculator
