When this checklist earns its place
A Zakat year is long enough to forget what you decided last time. The annual checklist is the once-a-year sweep: it walks the same ground as your previous calculation — accounts opened or closed, assets bought or sold, liabilities settled, the Hawl date itself — so this year's calculation starts from a verified picture rather than last year's assumptions.
A concrete walk-through
Someone whose Hawl date falls in Ramadan would run the checklist in the preceding weeks: confirm the calculation date, pull fresh statements for every account on last year's list, note the new investment account opened in autumn, mark the car loan that was paid off, and re-source metal prices for the current date. The output is not a number — it is the confidence that the numbers you are about to enter are this year's.
What it does not determine
The checklist does not calculate anything and does not decide whether your Hawl is complete — it prompts you to confirm the date you use and to record any interruption questions for guidance. Zakat paid in advance or in instalments during the year belongs in the notes column, not resolved by the checklist itself.
Privacy and the related tools
The checklist is a static download that never reports back to this site. It leads naturally into the personal worksheet for the detailed inventory, then the main Zakat calculator for the estimate itself.
Important cautions
- A checklist cannot resolve disputed treatment.
- Historical or missing records may need qualified guidance.
